  1. Beautiful words for what isn’t everyone’s cup of tea, but you make it sound almost seductive. Probably very much so to those who like that kind of thing.

  2. wow! I’m glad, Brian you got so much supportive comments on this. IT’s beautiful, but I think what many are shocked by (the whip stuff) is a total ignorance of this ritual. LOL! This is yes, tasteful but more importantly, it sings of a very sensual night. Bravo, friend.

    • I wanted reiterate to you that I’ve blogged before about submission and spanking because that is a very important part of me. I will continue to do so if the prompt moves my Muse. Shibari as you wrote about is like calligraphy, painting, a tea ceremony in that they all revolve around the senses working in harmony with the ritual in a sacred dance.

      • Exactly! And those who don’t really understand Japanese aesthetics will get their panties in a wad. LOL! Shibari is supposed to be like sculpture…like ichibani, like really good haiku. Not the stuff that is produced by the majority of Westerners. LOL! (I’ve written my own share of bad haiku.) I am writing an essay on Iki: The Aesthetic of Edo. this will be way over people’s heads, and frankly, it’s taken a year for me to get mine around. But this is the specialized study I love and am known for. In each of my last two books I included essays on Japanese aesthetics, to the dismay of my publisher. LOL! But these essays are well read in Japan and for that I am deeply grateful. You definitely understand shibari. It ain’t about sex. LOL!
