crying in my daiquiri

“My Broken Heart”

If it wasn’t me
then why do I hurt
I tried so hard
to be what
he wanted
failed myself
or so it seems now
to be what
I want
is now my goal.

Love is over
was it ever real
love is over
so how do I heal
love is over
what happens now
love is over
tears on my brow

A broken heart
must be mended
no more drink
to blur
my senses
I’ve come to the point
of not
looking back
I will be strong
myself I do love.

Love is over
was it ever real
love is over
so how do I heal
love is over
what happens now
love is over
tears on my brow

Authors note: A country song I wrote for a friend after her breakup.

  1. 1) I love day-queries. But I can never remember how to spell the word without looking it up or copy/past(y)ing it. Instead, I opted for a humorous reworking.

    2) What if what he really wants IS for you (or her, as it were) to be, what you (or she, as it were) really want(s) to be … your-self, 100%? That’s what attracts a man … or a woman. People are hungry to get next to people who are just “keepin’ it real.”

    • I wish it was that easy, but unfortunately most people ‘Can’t handle the truth!’ and seek to mold the other(s) to meet their own expectations and comfort levels rather than nurturing the 100% of the person they fell in love with.
